Event cinema has grown from being almost non-existent to an extremely popular part of cinema culture over the last decade.
At this year’s festival we are celebrating this with a screening of the Northern Ballet’s captivating and chilling adaptation of George Orwell’s dystopian masterpiece, 1984.
1984 is the story of Winston Smith, a low-ranking member of the ruling party Oceania. The Party watches everything. The Party controls everything – the history, the language, the people, their thoughts. Everything is controlled, everything is uniform, there is no individuality.
